The location of your under-sink unit will depend on your home plumbing layout. Your ACT D’MAND® Kontrol® System pump will be installed under the furthest fixture or at the end of the dedicated return line. ACT Inc.’s hot water recirculating pumps work with either Standard or Structured home plumbing layouts.
In a typical home plumbing layout the furthest fixture is either the master bathroom or kitchen. If the user does not have a dedicated return line, then the ACT D’MAND® Kontrol® System pump will be placed under the sink fixture furthest from the water heater.
In a home plumbing layout that utilizes Structured Plumbing the ACT D’MAND® Kontrol® System can be installed in two ways.
Option (A) This is the easiest option where the pump is placed at the end of the dedicated return line, just before the water heater. The thermistor in the ACT D’MAND® Kontrol® System pump will detect the preset rise in water temperature and the electronic controller will then turn off the pump. If installed outside, exposed to the elements, the ACT D’MAND® Kontrol® System pump should be located under a weather proof cover.
Option (B) For the optimum efficiency and savings it is best if the ACT D’MAND® System is installed just after the last hot water fixture at the beginning of the dedicated return line of the Structured plumbing design. Note, if access to the ACT D’MAND® Kontrol® System in Option (B) is a problem, install the ACT D’MAND® Kontrol® System recirculation pump as suggested in Option (A).
The dedicated return line enhances the plumbing system design. ACT, Inc. recommends including a dedicated return line when designing residential plumbing systems for all new home construction.
ACT D’MAND® Kontrol® Systems can be retro fitted into your existing house or commercial property. The system can be incorporated into your new building plans and added to your renovation project.
Installation is completed by your preferred plumber and should take under two hours.
